Zaid Alami
Managing Director, Boeing Indonesia
Zaid Alami is based in Jakarta and serves as Boeing’s senior executive in Indonesia. He is in charge of leading Boeing’s operations, growth strategy, government affairs, new business and industrial partnerships, and community engagement in the country. He was appointed in December 2022. He reports to Penny Burtt, president of Boeing Southeast Asia.
Prior to this role, Alami led the global operations and engineering of the Global Support Center, based in Jakarta. The Global Support Center expertise spans flight operations engineering, systems engineering, structures engineering, reliability engineering, propulsion engineering, maintenance programs engineering, project management, and airport, airspace and air traffic management. Prior to that, Alami was on the Entry into Service team and was appointed as the Asia Pacific and India 737 MAX Return to Service leader. Additionally, Alami supported multiple customers globally with the introduction of the 787 and 737 MAX into their fleets. Alami started his career at Boeing as an experimental flight test engineer based in Seattle, supporting research and development and certification efforts of the 787-8, 787-9, 787-10, 737-8 and 737-9.
Prior to Boeing, Alami was a rotors and transmissions engineer at Sikorsky Aircraft, working on the Black Hawk helicopter.
Alami is an aeronautical and astronautical engineer from Purdue University. Alami holds graduate certificates from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in technical leadership and leadership at all levels. Alami is a graduate of Boeing’s leadership development program, Leadership NeXt.
Alami is passionate about STEM outreach and is active in mentoring high school and college students on pursuing careers in STEM. In his free time, Alami enjoys watching college basketball, playing beach volleyball, scuba diving, hiking and travelling.
