Boeing’s Charitable Grants to Empower Southeast Asian Communities in 2024

  • Grants allocated to 32 projects will uplift livelihoods, support differently-abled people, provide access to health care and promote environmental stewardship.
  • Continued emphasis on STEM initiatives to develop talent in primary and secondary schools and promote sustainable livelihoods

INDONESIA, March 21, 2024 — Boeing (NYSE: BA) has confirmed a charitable grants package to support nonprofit organizations across Southeast Asia in 2024. These grants will improve access to clean water, promote sustainable livelihoods in agroforestry, animal and forest conservation, address key health and hygiene initiatives, advance STEM-related programs, and support at-risk communities.

Boeing's US$1.25M grant in 2023-2024 will advance projects in Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia.

The full list of grant partners and projects in 2024 in Southeast Asia include:

Indonesia

  • Friends of the National Park Foundation: Enable community-based agroforestry and reforestation in Central Kalimantan.
  • Kingdom Workers: Provide clean water, sanitation and hygiene work on the island of Timor.
  • The Asia Foundation: Strengthen computer literacy for underemployed youth in West Nusa Tenggara, Aceh and Riau provinces.
  • Yayasan Karang Widya: Train underprivileged and vulnerable youth in organic farming in West Java.
  • Yayasan Orangutan Sumatera Lestari: Conserve endangered small apes and create employment opportunities for women in the Bukit Mas village, near Gunung Leuser National Park in North Sumatra.
  • Yayasan Teman Baik: Comprehensive social services for marginalized children in Jakarta.
  • IDEP Foundation: Transition for sustainable livelihood in Bali.
  • Yayasan Usaha Mulia: Provide quality education for students in Cianjur, West Java.
  • Room to Read: Build literacy skills for students in primary schools across Indonesia starting with Tangerang City, Banten.

Vietnam

  • Giving it Back to Kids: STEM education for students in Quang Nam and Da Nang province, Central Vietnam.
  • Kenan Foundation Asia: Train teachers in STEM and how to instruct in the field of science and math.
  • The Asia Foundation: Strengthen IT skills for disadvantaged youths in Hanoi.
  • PeaceTrees Vietnam: Demining and explosive ordinance risk education in Quảng Trị and Quảng Bình province, Central Vietnam.
  • Hagar USA: Trafficking prevention and response in Northern Vietnam.
  • Room to Read: Build literacy skills for students and establishing libraries in primary schools in Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation: Aid to survivors of human trafficking.
  • AIP Foundation: Build safe school zones to lower road fatalities due to dangerous conditions.
  • Vinacapital Foundation: Empower ethnic girls through fostering education and combating social prejudice.
  • D.O.V.E. Fund: Hygiene support, build latrines for elementary and secondary schools in GioLinh.
  • East Meets West Foundation: Upgrade infrastructure in primary schools in Quang Nam and Hue province.

Singapore

  • Hagar Singapore Ltd: Trauma recovery and resettlement for victims of trafficking and abuse.
  • United Women Singapore: Empower female students through STEM education.

Thailand

  • Kenan Foundation Asia: Train teachers in Bangkok to develop STEM skills.
  • The Dulabhatorn Foundation: Provide specialized training and education for people with disabilities from Chiang Mai to find meaningful employment.
  • World Vision Foundation of Thailand: Grant access to clean drinking water in schools by providing water filtration systems to five primary schools, repairing the water filtration system of Sai Yok District, Kanchanaburi province.
  • The Asia Foundation: Introduce STEM education to disadvantaged migrant children in Mae Sot, near the border of Myanmar/Thailand.

Philippines

  • Link Center for the Deaf: Increase employment and livelihood opportunities in Manila for youths and adults who are hearing-impaired.
  • Philippine Eagle Foundation: Support conservation of the endangered Philippine Eagles in Davao City.

Malaysia

  • Pertubuhan Jaringan Inovator Bandar & Luar Bandar: Support micro and small entrepreneurs in Sabah through training and skill development.
  • Persatuan Kanser Network Selangor Dan Wilayah Persekutuan: Support community wellness through physical activities and mental wellbeing for people recovering from cancer.
  • Gibbon Conservation Society: Rehabilitation of gibbons in the Batu Malim area of the Raub, Pahang and in Kota Belud, Sabah, before being reintroduced into their natural habitat.

Cambodia

  • Room to Read: Support girls' education programs in Phnom Penh, build child-friendly libraries in primary schools.
